Ethics and AI - Music Streaming / Radio Shows
There is an Agile Rabbit meeting on Thursday about ethics and AI. Last week the BBC Academy ad an online conference about AI and a digital future for BBC and other broadcasting. BBC emphasis was on news but AI is already working for music and comedy clips. In some ways the streaming platforms are ahead of radio / TV companies.
I am thinking about how the ethics would relate. Mostly I am aware of copyright issues or how content can be remixed or edited. There is a lot of legal debate but also just social practice. Radio started with an understanding that tracks could be played as promotion. It is not clear how this works with social media as a source for broadcast. Can live performance be broadcast, shows from other stations?
BBC World Service Radio used to do a lot more music including world music. The cost of rights may be an issue. What about just data? Is it ok to distribute data that can be used by listeners to find tracks?
Gradually I am getting relaxed about how to be a presenter as well as depending on AI or a playlist. In Phonic FM studio there is access to streaming , also a playout system with choices from all presenters. there can be a mix with CDs or other sources. The ethics of this to be explored as it continues.
