#HybridAsNormal Linking BETT and Learning Technologies

I may be getting too caught up in fiction, working on my plays and the Drama Show on Phonic FM. Meanwhile reality may be passing by. There is still enough material for dramatic tension but in some space and time there could be resolution through change.

Thinking about BETT at the end of March I realise it makes more sense with Learning Technologies in May. BETT started with schools . now includes universities. Learning Technologies is for learning at work. My guess is that during lockdown training at work moved online and stayed there. HE has moved back to the campus as if nothing happend. ( also a guess ). #HybridAsNormal is a tag to trace a discussion around how normal "hybrid" might be, continues through May.

On YouTube I found Signals in the Storm, the 300th upload from the Centre for Global Higher Education. About 30 minutes in - Diana Laurillard on "Harnessing Technology As A Force For Good" . This starts with aim statements fro "top 20" universities and looks at Continuing Professional Development. There is mention of the MOOC but this could be expanded and related to other organisations. What happened over the last decade? There has been a shift to vocational topics and courses are created by companies.

For HE there will be an area "Ahead by BETT" at ExCEL in March. I am not sure who will be at Learning Technologies, also ExCEL, in May. Coursera is at stand Q30 so one example of a MOOC platform. 

How "hybrid" works is still unclear but worth checking out.

Comedian needed for Lowlands Music Awards Show in Edinburgh

 Can social media find a comedian? Will samples help to promote the event? This is in background for the key information. the event is a new music awards show for the Lowlands, based in Edinburgh. the Biscuit Factory is booked for Sept 2nd 2023. The comedian will open the second half of the evening, after the drinks interval. Probably they will have local knowledge. Anyone outside Edinburgh should explain how they think their performance will work out.

The comedy slot is sponsored by the Phonic Drama Show. The aim is to expand a social media approach from music towards drama. Comedy seems to be somewhere in between. Music promotion allows edits and remix. There is a culture around Creative Commons and a method around content marketing. So far drama concentrates on live performance so there is less digital content. Comedy can take a form suitable for video and sound edits. There are many examples online.

So once a comedian has been found there will be some links to examples ahead of the event. Over the summer there will be other examples to consider. The Drama Show on Phonic includes some music as well as drama in various sound formats.

There will be more details about the event later. There is a short note on the Facebook page for HX Records https://www.facebook.com/groups/684058195310002/ . Any social media should be copied there to reach the decision makers. This is not an award, there is no shortlist. A decision will be made and communicated.

Notes early 2023

This probably fits together, in ways that could become clear. Enough for a chat show / music show with 20 minutes of chat over two hours. Not all radio is live as other things happen. There may be repeats or the story so far.

Previously video sent to online conferences by AMPS, #mediatedcity . Is video just visual radio ?

Design Thinking also a workshop at Like Minds, by chance in Exeter during BETT . 

Also 19th and 26th April, Design Thinking master classes with Playful University Club.

This could be a review time for whatever designs then exist

Learning Technologies  3-4 May  lifelong learning, not as much tech as BETT.

Topics revolve around words, some confusing. 

Communication appears to be an academic subject. There is the London College of Communication, used to be London School of Printing. There are degrees in Communication at Exeter, supported by Digital Humanities Lab. There is a range between tech and humanities. 

Quality and Design can be used to describe a similar process around innovation. Quality is often assumed to be more about conformity and stability. So just thinking about Design might shift things once in a while.
